Giving your body a good, luxurious bath is always one of the best times with oneself. How much more if you are taking a bath in a luxurious and beautifully styled bathroom also? Nowadays, people are into elegant, contemporary designs of bathroom applications and the main part of the bathroom that never fails to excite oneself is the shower doors. Contemporary shower doors are now frameless and thus dubbed as frameless shower doors, adding a modern look to your shower rooms.

The Benefits of Frameless Shower Doors

Frameless shower doors are growing in popularity due to their numerous advantages over shower doors with frames or shower curtains. Firstly, frameless shower doors are very easy to maintain and can always be cleaned up and results will look like a new frameless shower door you’ve just bought. Also, do not use chemicals when cleaning the glass panels as this might damage it in a short time. It is commendable to use surface protector when cleaning the glass panels. You also might want to ask for assistance when buying cleansers for your frameless shower doors. Another advantage is that it is durable since it is thick, tempered glass thus, lasts longer than framed shower doors. Without the presence of metals that are not prone to corrosion, frameless glass then can last longer as compared to those with frames. Furthermore they are durable and cannot be easily toppled down by human force. Aside from that water from the shower is easily managed so as not to wet the areas outside of the cubicle. Installing one is indeed costly as purchasing a framed shower door, however, the maintenance is relatively low since there are no damaged or decayed metals to replace. On the other hand, if you buy a framed one, you will be incurring more money for constant metal replacement.

Thickness of the Doors

Meanwhile the thickness of frameless shower doors varies. There is 3/8 inch thick and glass and ½ inch thick glass. The thicker glass is the more durable type as compared to the thin one however, the thinner glass is usually the most saleable since it is budget-friendly. There is a wide variety of finishes to choose from depending on your preferences. Aside from that, it also comes in different designs namely sliding, bi-fold, and swinging. It is also very accessible since it can be opened in two ways, which make getting in and out of the shower in a breeze. Another characteristic of this type of shower door is its magnificent weight at almost 70 pounds compared to framed shower doors for only 40-50 pounds.

Prices

As mentioned above, frameless shower doors are costly as compared to framed shower doors. For a cheaper shower door, you might be able to get them for less than $500 and you can have it self-installed. On the other hand, frameless shower doors are usually at $500-600 and more depending on the size of the glass and the thickness of the glass as well. Furthermore you will also need the aid of a professional upon installations since it is very heavy and metals are placed in between walls to have it upright. So usually, when you have a bigger shower room, expect around a thousand bucks for such. However, you will also be amazed of its attributes that you will thank your self for having selected the best.

In other words, frameless shower doors have a lot of advantages and practically zero or very minimal disadvantages. It is not only durable and flexible but also never fails to add the ‘wow’ factor in your bathroom. Luxury hotels and homes using this type of glass showers can definitely attest to that.

Shower glass panels have a thick tempered glass that is both durable and flexible. Using glass panels in a bathroom can really give it an updated and luxurious look to it. These glass doors can personalize the room. Glass panels can add the "wow" factor to your bathroom. This is really an amazing use of glass panels. Before beginning to plan these types of changes, I suggest looking at McGraw Hill's Sweet Directory of construction materials and manufacturers. While I do work for them, I use them because they offer a lot of useful information, as well as some really useful CAD details that are available to download from their site. I would definitely recommend them.

A very interesting article. I will consider installing frameless shower doors. but that sounds a little bit expensive. Do the $600 already include the professional's bill?
